A Guardian of Shadows (The Revenant Wyrd Saga #4)
The thrilling sequel to The Well of Wyrding.
In the enchanted lands of the Great Realms, Angelica, Jovian, and Joya are searching for their kidnapped sister, Amber. Their quest has led them through many dangers and many excitements, but nothing has prepared them for what’s about to come.
The wyr are alive, the Two who were never supposed to exist. They are destined to control the wyrd and fate of all mankind. Their very existence is destroying the world tree, on whose roots the fate of man is etched, and causing the Well of Wyrding, which sustains the world tree, to dissolve. Now Angelica and Jovian are hunted by the Norns, those three sisters of fate who guard the world tree and live at its roots, observing and preserving fate, who believe Angelica and Jovian are the wyr.
Angelica, Joya, and Jovian are on a race to escape the Norns as well as find their sister Amber, but with no clue where she could be, they turn their attention toward home, deep in the Holy Realm. The problem? Between them and their destination is the accursed land of eternal night: the Shadow Realm. Rumored to be filled with nightmarish creatures, forsaken to its shadowy depths, the Shadow Realm promises death to any from the Holy Realm who dare enter.
Review:
A Guardian of Shadows is another great book from Travis Simmons. I have to admit I am a little addicted to this series. You just never know what is going to happen in his books. Of course with this being a fantasy book, you never know what types of characters or settings will be in this book. He has some mythical creatures and some totally new creatures, and then there are a wide variety of settings in this series.
One of the drawbacks with this series for some people is that the books can not be read as stand alone books. Well, I guess you could but you would probably be totally lost. I've read the entire series so far. I still have to go back to some of the other books to refresh my memory, so, I understand everything that is going on. I do wish he would refresh us on some of the language, characters and/or situations from other books when he refers to them in the new books.
I am anxiously awaiting the new book. I couldn't believe it when the book ended. At first, I thought my Kindle version hadn't downloaded the book. I guess I will just have to wait for the next one while I sit on pins and needles. I was so in the zone with this book when it ended. I'm just glad that I'm one of the lucky ones and will get to read the new book as soon as it comes out.
I give this one 4 1/2 stars only because I had to go back to other books to understand some of what happened this book. This book is for teens and older. Some parents might want to read it first if they are picky about what their teen reads. There are a few adult situations but nothing really bad. If you love fantasy, you will love this book and the entire series.
